This picture was taken at the Camden Aquarium in Camden, NJ. It is the aquarium closest to where I live. While Camden has been referred to as one of the most dangerous places in the US, it does have a very nice aquarium.
Here's John, my Valentine, standing next to the jaw of an ancestor of the Great White. John says he thinks it was called a "Megaladon".
I also got my picture taken by this scuba diver; however, it was one of those shots where my eyes are half closed so I look like I overdosed on some valium.
We also were able to watch this Giant Octopus eat her lunch. She was completely still in the corner of the tank until some shrimp on a stick was placed in the water. I have a similar reaction to shrimp.
Sea life can be quite beautiful and mysterious. I really enjoyed these trips and taking these pictures. I hope you enjoyed!
Oh the octopus is different. Some great pics. Good job. This was a great post and so many different interpretations.

Ha! I love shrimp too. Your picture of resting otters is really a good one. We have otters in the Oregon aquarium but I never see them resting; they're always swimming and playing.
ReplyDeleteGood shoot-out.
I like the picture of the octopus too, something very different!
ReplyDeleteOh cool, I just saw a jelly fish, and now an octopus! How cool...now I remember why I picked this...
ReplyDeleteLove your otters and octopus but the one that grips me is the shark shot. Imagine meeting up with that monster. No, I mustn't, I'm terrified of sharks as it is!!!
ReplyDeleteThe octopus is great and first one I've seen in a long while!
ReplyDeleteOctopi are such clever creatures. Nice shootout!
ReplyDeletethank god for archives, is all I've got to say. I love shrimp in almost any dish (maybe not some of the Cacun!dishes) Saturday we get to go to eat Bobo de Cameron - see other stories....http://gingersflowers.blogspot.com/2007/06/sunday-lunch-in-friburgo.html
ReplyDeletesorry I interrupted myself.... Good Job Missy.
I, too, enjoyed the octopus. And I remember reading about the megaladon. As I recall, prehistoric man called them "John Eaters."
ReplyDeleteOctopus is an interesting creature. And those otters lounging..what a life - no predators to worry about.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the giant octopus for full effect and he (she, it) is one big sucker. Great photos and a fun read.
ReplyDeleteYou did well,Lena. Love how you improvised. Sometimes improvising makes for the best posts.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about the Valium eyes. We all look that way from time to time. When I am shooting for the newspaper I always take at least three shots of groups of people. I can't tell you how many great photos never make the newspaper because someone looks like they have been on week-long binge.
Have a great weekend.
That octopus is neato. Great shots this week.
ReplyDeleteoh wow - those shark jaws are FIERCE.
