Photo and a Poem

The Moment I Woke Walking by the Church
lights hanging in darkness--

tonight, I carry it,
the weight unreal
like wading through water
too thick.

I am open this night,
with mists creeping their way
along my heart's door.

Far from home--always,
seeking those scents
sorting the memories
like pebbles rubbed smooth.

On unknown streets,
shadows peeling away from my face,
I shall pretend to know the secrets
they are whispering.
